City of Red Deer

  • Existing Building Renovation from classrooms to offices.
  • Building Location – Red Deer, Alberta
  • Size – 4407 s.m, Renovation

Design Response

The City of Red Deer moved several departments into vacant premises formerly used as a school building and housing an arts centre and storage for the police department. The renovation involved interior gutting and replacement of aging exterior elements such as signage and cladding. The result is new office space built to take best advantage of existing brickwork and large glazing units. Using demountable and reusable partition systems, the new facility provides amenable and highly flexible space. The design utilizes the existing building’s compressed corridors through utility shelves to allow for maximum light and height in working areas. Murals are by local artists.
